Description:: 2 x 2 hour workshops for teachers of Junior Infant to Second Class. Being great at maths is much more than following procedures and memorising facts. The key to maths is understanding it. An early and robust understanding of Number forms the foundation on which maths is built. Students with Number Sense like maths, understand it and don’t have to rely on prescribed procedures. What’s more, it is known that high achieving students use Number Sense in maths while low achieving students don’t. This series of two workshops will support teacher’s ability to develop Number Sense in all students. Come along and explore practical and simple strategies and tools for developing Number Sense in your classroom.
